This year, Foresight Medical Centre brings together genomic, lifestyle data and clinical diagnostics to maximise the information available to your health and to any treatment you may need. To do that, we have introduced StoreGene cardiovascular profile to our health assessments.
What is StoreGene cardiovascular profile?
StoreGene is a genetic test to identify more clearly your personal risk for cardiovascular disease.
After consent, saliva will be taken, either during your consultation or health screening. This will be sent securely to StoreGene in London for examination.
Your DNA will be then extracted from the samples and will be used for specific gene testing. The genetic test results, and your information, will be entered in StoreGene’s system, which assesses your genes using an unique algorithm.
From the algorithm output, a personalised client report is produced highlighting your 10 year CV risk profile, together with an advisory tailored treatment program for you.
StoreGene Cardiovascular profile combines genetic testing to a purpose designed algorithm. It uses 19 cardiovascular genetic markers, simply from one saliva sample.
A regular health assessment is one way to help prevent cardiovascular disease
At our Harley Street Medical Centre we know well that prevention does work in cardiovascular medicine.
Most of strokes and cardiovascular events, such as a heart attack, can be prevented before the age of 70 by adopting a healthy lifestyle, with or without medication.
However, with previous analysis, doctors were often missing the detection of people at intermediate risk, mostly people with healthy lifestyle.
Doctors believe that at least 25 per cent of patients that suffer a heart attack before the age of 70, would have been classified as intermediate risk because of normal weight, absence of smoking and a healthy active life. Yet, they suffer a heart attack, because of their genes.
StoreGene Cardiovascular profile can identify these people more clearly and help the patient and the doctor to adopt an improved preventive treatment approach.
The test also contains therapeutic analysis, in other words, the test guides the doctor’s choice for your treatment, giving indication of potential patient’s future intolerance to Statine.

The initial test costs £368, with annual review at £80.
It is becoming clear that assessing a person’s genetic makeup is a useful component of providing a true picture of individual risk. Hence, my enthusiasm in offering this new test to our patients at Foresight Medical Centre.
“It is important that clinicians have access to the most accurate risk information about a patient so that they can help the patient to make better-informed decisions about managing their future health.” Professor Steve Humphries, BHF Chair of Cardiovascular Genetics
